We have a great tradition in the Paddock family of playing board games/ shooting pool, etc. One of our favorite games is not a board game, and yet it does bring out the competitive side in some of us. It is called "Catch Phrase Jr." If you have never played "Catch Phrase" I highly recommend it. The game is very easy; you have teams of as many members as you want. You sit next to the opposing team member, so it is every other one, are you with me so far? The first person has this disk thing that shows a word and as soon as you push start a beeper starts and it slowly gets faster and faster until it eventually beeps for the last time. So, the first person must act out or use words to get his team to guess what his word is then once they guess he/she passes to the person next to him/her which is on the opposing team and they hit "Next" and get a new word and must get his/her team to guess the word and so on. Who ever has the disk thing in their hand when the beep stops loses that round. It can get quite heated as you try to get the disk handed off before the beeper goes off. Here is a photo of the disk thing.
So, this past Thanksgiving weekend, our poor Mitchell had Strep throat. He got sick on Tuesday which just happened to be the last day of school before the holiday. On Friday night he thought he felt well enough to play a little "Catch Phrase". We should have known better. The teams were the boys vs the girls. It was Mitchell's turn and he yells out, "another word for dig!" I am sitting next to him and I am very curious what this could be so I look at the disk and I see the word "FIG". I was not aware that "FIG was another word for "DIG" Perhaps it was the fever.
