Last week my Doctor insisted I was having an "exacerbation" or relapse. I had been having some balance issues for some time but was ignoring them since I do not enjoy the treatment. So, on my last visit, it was hard to hide these balance issues and he told me I either had the steroids or found a new doctor. He drives a tough bargain; you see not only are there not many neurologists in Spartanburg, but it just happens that I really like this guy.
I was scheduled to have my Tysabri (MS treatment of choice) on Thursday 1/10, and now we had to reschedule that. I had three days of iv steroids, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesday and Wednesday were great, other than a little headache I felt pretty good. That was short lived; I came home on Thursday and within an hour had one doozer of a headache. Of course the kids were off early on Friday and did not have school on Monday so I was looking forward to a nice weekend with them. Instead I spent 5 days on the couch in the dark. We called the doctor on Monday and he called me in some Lortab which simply put me out. The reason it hurts so bad is the steroids are getting rid of the inflammation and my inflammation is in my brain, hence the headache. So like with every steroid treatment I have ever had I now have a sinus infection. It is now late Tuesday, I still have a little headache, tomorrow is Wednesday and I have a Grocery shopping to do, Patrick started a new semester today so he needs all new school supplies, we are expecting our first ice on Thursday which means school will most likely be closed and on top of all that , Thursday is my TYSABRI day. If you are not familiar with my TYSABRI day it is my once a month IV treatment that lasts for 1 hour with a second hour of observation to make sure I do not have a reaction then 5-7 more days of a headache from hell. (excuse my language). Sorry for such a downer post, I just wanted to let you know why I would not be posting for a while. I have a post with photos ready, just no writing.
So, I will leave you with some great photos my brother Brian sent me from Christmas. How I missed being with them this year. I did not even call, I fell asleep at 7:30 and did not wake up until 10 the next day.
Here are my handsome brothers..
Brian, David, Pat, and Jim
Here is my brother Pat playing what I believe are my great niece Grace's new drums.
And my sister in law Debbie playing the drums.
My family does know how to have fun. And to think I was sound asleep.
