NOT AGAIN!

You know your son has broken too many bones when you no longer take photos just of the occasion.  Well, I did take one of his hot pink cast last spring but only because the cast was so pretty.

In Mitchell's 11 years, he has had two broken feet, two broken legs, a broken arm, pulled the ligaments from in his ankle (above), and I am sure I am forgetting one or two injuries.  So, the latest is a good one.  He, Patrick, and Vinny were coming home from a friends house which is just kitty corner from our back yard.  There is not a fence so they just walk through the back yards.  It was dark and they were running.  The next door neighbors have a dog who likes to dig holes, just in case Mitchell should come running by which he did, and of course he fell in such hole and landed on his wrist with his thumb bent back.

These injuries don't even faze us any more.  He was not crying but it was very swollen so Charlie took him into the local Insta-care just in case. They said it was a bad sprain and wrapped it up and sent him home.  Over the next couple of days he kept saying that his thumb was asleep, and the swelling was getting worse so I made an appointment with an Orthopedic Doc.  Did you know that the only way to cut the tendon in your thumb is with a knife?  Well, Mitchell got as close as you can without the knife.  So, he had to where this splint for a few weeks, no cast thank goodness, he could take this off in the shower, just could not use it, so Charlie still had to help him.  I had to look hard for a photo with the splint and here it is.  He is all healed now and we are happy that we have found a very nice Orthopedic Doctor since we are sure we are going to become very good friends.
