BIRTHDAYS AND FALL BREAK

Mitchell turned 19 on the 14th of October. Since we could not be there to celebrate with him, I ordered cupcakes and his roommate picked them up. Then the roommate had a few friends meet at a friend's house with the cupcakes and pizza for a little surprise birthday.

The next weekend was fall break. He had a fraternity retreat on Friday night through Sunday morning but since it was in North Carolina, just an hour west of us, he had his ride drop him off here for the rest of the break. He asked if we could have pizza and donuts waiting for them so his friends could eat. We agreed and put a candle in a donut for a little late birthday.

We had a nice if not short visit with him. He slept a lot which we now know was because he had a concussion and brain contussion. More on that later. By Tuesday afternoon, it was time for me to drive him back to school.

About to leave. Spent a couple of hours with him in Charleston then came back home to find an email from him telling me he did not want to worry me but he and his roommate had collided heads on Saturday and the pain was bad but went away pretty quickly. By Tuesday morning it was pretty bad again. He did tell his father who did not see why he should tell me. So, after I left, he rode his bike ot MUSC's ER. Yep, not worried! I could have killed him and my husband. I don't think that will ever happen again.
