All my life I hated my name. I still get mail addressed to Mr. Shaun Paddock. So what do I do, I name my daughter Vincenza and nickname her Vinny. She has never complained about her name and perhaps that is because so many of her friends have names that were once more commonly used for boys.
Vinny and her best friend from Salt Lake , Sam, aka Samantha.
Vinny and her best friend in South Carolina, Robi (pronounced Robby) aka Roberts. Robi is named after her mother's maiden name, pretty cool I think.
Vinny also has a half sister named Bryan. Here she is with her two beautiful girls, Anna Maria and baby Isabella.
It seems to be the cool thing to have a name that most people would consider a "boys" name. I am so happy that Vinny appears to be confident and happy with her name unlike I was. I am finally at almost 45 ok with my given name. Now if people could only learn how to spell my name.
S H A U N
Shall we give Vincenza a try?
Not only will people not be able to spell it, they cannot pronounce it correctly. Remember, "i" in Italian is pronounced "e" and "c" is pronounced "ch" so it sounds like VENCHENZA.
Ok, Lesson is over for tonight.
